On November 26, in Vienna's Donaustadt district, firefighters responding to a call discovered the body of a young man in a burned-out Mercedes car. The extremely brutal nature of the crime indicated a high level of motivation and hatred toward the victim. Austrian police later confirmed that the victim was the son of Ukrainian politician Danylo Kuzmin.
An analysis of digital transactions revealed that a significant amount of money had disappeared from the victim's crypto wallet. Investigators found that shortly before his death, the victim had made several transactions, and then the wallet had been accessed by third parties.
According to preliminary data, the young man may have been attacked in the underground parking lot of the hotel where he was staying, and then the unconscious man or his body was moved to a car.
The investigation is considering several versions of the crime, as it is obvious that this was an attempt to cover up the traces of a premeditated murder, motivated by financial gain, by setting fire to the car. The autopsy showed that death occurred before the car caught fire.
